Hey, kids! Did you know that the US Census can tell you how many dentist offices are available to clean your teeth twice a year? Or how many amusement parks are in your state? Or fast food restaurants and ice cream parlors there are to eat at?
You can have loads of fun in California. At last count, there were 87 amusement parks, nearly 35,000 fast food restaurants, over 1,000 toy stores, and 60 zoos and botanical gardens. Before you visit one of the nearly 20,000 available dentists, you can eat to your heart's delight at one of the 532 candy and nut stores or one of the 65 ice cream and frozen dessert makers in the Sunshine State. Then get out and run awhile among the largest and oldest trees in the world, the California Redwoods.
Or travel south to the Heart of Dixie where you won't go hungry in Alabama since you have nearly 4,000 fast food restaurants to choose from. But don't be throwing your garbage out in the open or you just may find a black bear on your front porch! There may be only nine amusement parks and nine zoos and botanical gardens, but you can keep busy watching the latest DVD or video from one of the 350 rental stores located in the state.
Finding out about other people is fun and educational at the US Census. You can learn the mottos and nicknames of every state in the union, even find out if they have a state flower or dance. Don't forget to learn how many kids are your own age living in your state. You will never have to worry about having someone to play with!
The US Census is taken every ten years so we can know how many neighbors we have within the United States. The next census will be this year, so don't forget to ask your teacher to help you find the nearest amusement park or candy store!
